When you’re in the spotlight, following are some tips for appearing trust-worthy and sincere when going on-camera or speaking to the media:
- Be confident. Allow yourself to be relaxed and straightforward. The more comfortable you are, the more comfortable your viewers will be.
- Be prepared. Anticipate what the interview will cover and plan how you want to approach answering questions. Prepared speakers are effective speakers. This, also, allows you the opportunity to create meaningful quotes.
- Keep it simple. Try to answer questions in layman’s terms – avoid sounding too technical or scientific – to make it understandable to the public. And keep it to the point.
- Keep it positive. People like happy people. Smile. Have fun. Make it clear that you love what you do, and people will love you for it.
